So Davis blames the great roster purge of 2002 for his demise. I guess that has some validity as it surely built up some resentment in the lockeroom. But worse was his lack of credibility in his public comments about the team, and Butch gives no indication gets that. Even in 2002/2003, part of the reason the team needed to cut players was Davis' signing of guys like Earl Homles. It was a problem of his own making. And the head coach gets no credit for dealing with a mess he created. Add in all the comments over the years about Couch, KJ, Ron Wolf, and a host of former players and past coaches, and it's pretty clear that Davis' problems weren't due to having made the tought decisions, it was due to his tone deaf way of dealing with people. So, Butch, enjoy your time off and the money, but also realize that such one-sided attempts to explain your demise are transparent to anyone who is paying attention.
